[BCH] Tucker & Dale VS. Evil

This is a movie that’s all about parody. It pokes fun at every splatter movie cliché and gimmick you can imagine while also packaging in a load of genuinely funny dialogue and hilarious gags. But while there is certainly a horror element to the movie, this is essentially a comedy and a very funny one. In fact, I would say that it offers more clever and well delivered humor than most of the stuff that comes from Hollywood’s comedy favorites.

The movie’s lead characters (as you probably can guess) are Tucker (Alan Tudyk) and Dale (Tyler Labine), two simple-minded hillbillies heading up in the West Virginia hills to fix up an old rickety cabin (or as they call it, their new summer home). Also in the hills is a group of stereotypical slasher movie college kids who are on a camping trip. You’ve seen them all before. You have the beautiful shapely blonde, the full-of-himself preppie, the nerdy guy, the pot smoker, and your token kids who are mainly there to add to the body count. They act stupid, do ill-advised things, and leave you wondering how they could ever pass a college course. But co-writer and director Eli Craig has a lot of fun with them. He’s clearly spoofing them but he doesn’t overexaggerate. Instead he injects some really funny lines and gags into these basic, cookie cutter characters.

  1. After watching this film, which is a romantic comedy with a touch of terror, I realized that you don’t have to trust appearances because many times people aren’t what they seem. In this case, I couldn’t believe that the most dangerous character was a well-dressed student acording to the social standards. However, I was stunned when I noticed that the kind student was a real criminal who tried to kill his own friend «Alison» and the two men in the hunt. These men only wanted to spend a great time in the forest and finally they almost died because of some misunderstandings.

  2. At the beginning, the movie seemed like a horror movie, but when you start watching it, you discover that the actual plot is not similar to that kind of movies.
It’s about people’s facade, how the first impression of people we meet can change. This often happens in our daily life. In many situations we associate clothing or hairstyle, for example, with the amount of money a person has or their social values. This is exactly the case that the film shows.
In conclusion, I think that what the film wants to show us is that we don’t have to be conditioned with the first look of someone before knowing them.

  3. This film is a clear example that appearances are deceiving in some cases, and how prejudices are in our day to day. I really liked the way it was presented and the unexpected twists in it, that’s why it’s really worth watching, you don’t expect anything to happen, especially the ending… This movie mixes my two favorite genres; comedy and drama/ fear. It isn’t a style that we are very used to seeing and this type of film is really worth it since they make you disconnect for a while from reality and laugh.

  4. To be honest, I was one of those people who had judged the film without knowing the true story, in fact, in the story itself, the characters judged each other due to misunderstandings they had in the forest due to the appearances that each of them had.
This movie is a horror comedy but to be honest I don’t like this genre of movies at all, but this movie wasn’t bad at all, it was entertaining.
I think that we human beings should stop judging before knowing the true story, person…

  5. The first impression when seeing her is, but how can you be so silly? It is curious how adolescents think that the two men are going to kill them, allowing themselves to be guided only by appearances and prejudices when the two men only seek to do good, and how adolescents increasingly screw up for not thinking. It is a very well structured film, with funny characters, and scenes that leave you in suspense because you don’t know what could happen and others that leave you in shock with things you don’t expect to happen, it’s perfect to stop thinking. a lot about your stuff because it’s easy to get hooked on the movie.

  6. Tucker and Dale vs. Evil, in my opinion, shows several aspects to ponder.
The first of them are prejudices. You can see how the guys at the gas station judge Dale, based on the stereotype that «hillbillies» are bad people. But later he saves Allison’s life, despite Chuck, still thinking, that they want to hurt them.
The second is what I have already mentioned before, the stereotype that townspeople are bad. I believe that this also occurs in reality, not here in Spain, but in other countries such as the US, it has been able to spread due to the message that films like «The Texas Chainsaw Massacre» send.
Finally, in my opinion, I think it’s a very funny film, and at the same time interesting, which despite this gives a lot to think about.

  7. Nowadays, most people share the view that people who dress well or elegant are “normal” people.
People get carried away by the appearance of a person. But I think that is normal, for instance, when we see a person that dresses all black, wears a lot of jazzy jewlery, boots, etc, we associate it with a person that likes rock.
In this movie, the college kids wore clean and visually pleasing clothes. However, Tucker and Dale look careless.
Taking everything into account, I strongly believe that this movie is the real “don´t judge a book by its cover”. Unfortunately people get judged by his first looking. These college kids that look so normal, with any mental issues, proved to be the real bad guys. In spite of this, i think that there is also a communication problem, if they talked at the beginning they would have met each other and it wouldn´t happen all that catastrophe.

  8. Tucker and Dale VS. Evil is a film that makes you reflect on several aspects, one of which is the appearance that not everything is what it seems at first glance.
A well-groomed and normally dressed person like teenagers is not good for that and a person like lumberjacks because they are careless doesn’t have to be bad. Another aspect that I saw during the film is that a perfect love does not exist, that the most handsome is not always the best and the one who can love you the most, but rather a more noble person and not with a perfect physique like the lumberjack can complement you and love you
From my point of view, I recommend watching this movie to teenagers so that they don’t trust people because of their appearance and get to know them first without judging them first.

  9. You don’t really know a person until you live with them. This is a fact that clearly appears in the film.
Allison, who first had fear of the big, bearded and rustic man that saw in the gas station, finally fell in love with him. She was the only college kid that was able to see inside the two hillbillies, finding out that they were very nice.
Sometimes, urbanites think that rural people are yokel, uncultured and rude. But this description is only a stereotype.
On the other side, we have the typical snob that seem a harmless college boy; however, we get scared of his actions in the course of the movie.
Summarizing, you’d better don’t trust appearances and get out of prejudices.

  10. In this film the insecurity of people is clearly shown according to their appearance. It is explained with the fear of the boys towards the two village men, until one of the girls realizes that they are good people, and finally they see that the bad guy was her own friend. Therefore, we must not look at appearances, but we must know their personality.

  11. In my opinion, Tucker & Dale vs. Evil is a highly entertaining movie that blends horror and comedy elements in a unique and enjoyable way. The film follows the story of two kind-hearted rednecks, Tucker and Dale, who are mistaken for deranged killers by a group of college students on a camping trip.

The movie is full of hilarious moments and clever twists on classic horror movie moments.

While the movie may not be for everyone, I would definitely recommend it to anyone looking for a fun and light-hearted take on the horror genre. In general, Tucker & Dale v. Evil is a well made and entertaining movie that is sure to leave viewers laughing and cheering.

Moreover, I think that people can find an important message appearences because in many cases the person’s apect can decive you.
I loved my classmates’ reaction while we were watching the film because their faces seemed astonished and they were really funny. I recommend It to everybody Who wants to spend a great time

  13. Between the comedy and the horror of the film, you can guess the message it tries to give: don’t judge by appearances. This phrase is heard a lot but it can’t be avoid because the first thing you see of a person is the appearance and that determines your way of acting. Just like the characters in the movie. If they had gone beyond appearances, nothing would have happened to them. This can also be applied to real life.
In conclusion, the combination of comedy and horror gives mistery to the movie because you don’t expect what the next move will be.

  14. At the start of the film I thought, “It’s a typical American film about teens”, but as I was watching it, I was being really surprised. I couldn’t imagine how it would end. When we finish it, I was thinking about the stereotypes. How could we judge someone by their clothes, or the way they look like. I think the film tries to show us that behavior, it’s an exaggerated way of doing it, of course, but it’s perfect. I like it because it teaches a lot of things more like, American teens are idiots or you can’t trust your own friends, and the film does it in a funny way. It has a love story too and that’s why I like it even more because everybody can see it from their own perspective. It’s a good film to see with friends when you don’t have anything to do and you want to have a good laugh.

  15. I really liked this film because not only do you have a fun time watching it but it also makes us reflect, I have come to the conclusion that we should not be influenced by appearances and people’s clothes but first we have to know them to be able to judge them, a very clear example that we can see in the film is when allison saw for the first time the big and bearded man who at first was afraid of him but then she met him and fell in love.
In conclusion I recommend that people see this film so that they can leave behind their prejudices and not be fooled by appearances.

  16. Tucker & Dale VS Evil is a funny comedy with touches of horror in which, due to a misunderstanding, a series of rather absurd and senseless deaths take place.

«It doesn´t matter what we are, but what we look like we are» is a phrase that expresses, without a doubt, one of the arguments that makes you think about this film: all of us prejudge and label our fellow human beings by their appearance (race, country of origin, physical appearance, etc…), without giving them or ourselves, the opportunity to really know others.

As far as I´m concerned, I recommend watching this film, as It opens our eyes to a reality of our society, the view we have of others and the possibility of learning to treat everyone for what they are and not for what that appear to be.

  17. Tucker & Dale VS. Evil it’s a very good film and uses an unusual mix of genres, because it mixes comedy and horror, for some people it’s a love story.
In this movie you can see the damage that stereotypes do in society, this movie reflects it very well, because the whole movie is about misunderstandings of a group of five normal young men with two more rural men, the young men thought that the men wanted to kill them, but you can’t believe that the real killer is one of the young men.
In my opinion it’s a very good film, because a lot of things happen that you don’t expect to happen. I would like to see more films of this kind.

  18. This is a horror-comedy film. I have loved it because I didn’t know what was going to happen in each time of the film. Also I realise that you can’t trust people appearances because many times you can be wrong.
The way in which these young people die is horrible, however this seemed really funny because of the humour touch that I could see on the film.
I belive that is a film to have a great time and at the same time to notice that you don’t have to be overconfident.

  19. At first, the film seemed to be a horror plot but often as the story of the film unfolded, it could be seen as not what we thought at first. This film was not only made to entertain but also to get a message across.
In my opinion, we should not always go by appearances, because many times appearances deceive us and do not match the truth.

  20. I got a big surprise about this movie and I ended up enjoying it a lot because of the things that happened in it. Many times we get a wrong image of people as we see in this film, since the girl thought that two gentlemen had held her back and then she ends up seeing that they are two good people and ends up falling in love with one of them. It also makes me reflect on the bad thinking of teenagers about Tucker and Dale since the two of them did nothing to them and saved one of their friends from drowning in a lake. In short, I really enjoyed the movie and I loved the ending.

  21. When I first watched the movie it seemed like a scary and dramatic movie filled with lots of voilence and blood shed but as the movie progressed I didn’t imagine that it would have a romantic ending, I realised that it is actually a romantic comedy in the end. It was an entertaining movie with a lot of laughs and it also left me feeling intirgued to find out what happened after. It also showcases how people judge other people and have misconceptions about others

  22. I found the movie funny, since the characters were so silly that they were funny. Although the movie had many effects and wasn’t credible.

While I was watching the film I felt different emotions like laughter because the characters were very funny and they did stupid things, but sometimes also disgust since the characters died in a strange way.

From this film, I learn that things aren’t always as they seem and you have to think about things before do them.

  23. Watching this film we can realise several things to reflect on. Prejudice is always present in this film. The first time the teenagers see Tucker and Dale they think they are bad people just because of the way they dress and act. The teenagers are so naive that they try to rescue their friend Allison from the two rednecks thinking that they were going to do something to her instead of helping her. Allison, being at Tucker and Dale’s house, gradually falls in love with Tucker because she doesn’t care so much about the way people dress. This is how we should all be in order to form a better society.

  24. I love when some stories give a twist to the more overused cliches in the world of entertainment, it’s funny how sometimes with some little changes in the script a story that was forgettable can exceed all expectations and become something unique.

This is the case of this film, being a pretty solid parody of the average slasher films, with wacky twist of the more known cliches and it’s own sense of humor. Maybe its not the best structured plot, just moving forward by it’s chain of misunderstandings or by the fact that in the end the cops believed in the “collective suicide” story, but its fun and have a good moral: “Don’t judge a book by its cover.”

  25. My initial reaction to the film was very positive because I found it funny how the teenagers, who are only driven by appearances and prejudice when the two men only want to do good, think the two men are going to kill them. I also found it funny how the teenagers continually screw up stupid things. It’s a very well structured film, with funny characters, scenes that keep you on the edge of your seat because you never know what might happen, and others that stun you with events you didn’t expect to happen. It’s the ideal way to stop worrying too much because it’s easy to get sucked into the story.

  26. Tucker & Dale VS. Evil was a movie that really impacted me, I really enjoyed watching it and its plot is wonderful.

It seems to me that this movie mixes comedy with a bit of love on the one hand and on the other hand it seems like a horror movie in which events happen that scare Tucker and Dale. The film also teaches us that appearances are deceptive, for example when teenagers go to buy beers and meet these two characters who, although they seemed like bad people, weren’t really like that.

I really enjoyed watching the movie in class and without a doubt I would watch the movie more times

  27. When I started watching the movie, I never imagined it would end like this. At first glance it may appear to be a romantic teen movie but I was surprised by its ending.
When I finished it I thought it had a lot to do with appearances and how they can deceive us. Either because of their physical condition, the clothes you wear or even how you act. I’m also amazed at how stupid a teenager can be.The way in which they are dying is increasingly absurd. And that’s why the movie is more comical than romantic.
Even so, I found it a very entertaining and fun movie to watch with your friends and laugh for a while.

  28. Tucker & Dale VS. Evil is a movie that should be viewed more by today’s teenagers. It is a horror movie, funny and with scenes that surprise you.
At the beginning of the movie, I thought that Tucker and Dale who were in the cabin in the woods wanted to do something bad to Alison, but as the movie progressed, I realized that it wasn´t like that, the bad guy in the movie was Chad.
The message that this film wants to give us is that we don´t have to trust first appearances and not to trust people very quickly, because they can always be lying to us.

  29. Honestly at first I thought it would be a completely different movie, but as the movie progressed, it surprised me for good.
This this mainly because at the beginning of the movie I thought it would be a romantic movie, but little by little some events are happening that completely change the plot of the movie.

Something that I also really liked about the film are its unexpected and crazy scenes, which manage to surprise the viewer, and they definitely get it.
To sum up, I found it a very fun movie to watch, and it has made me see the fantastic world of parodies.

The teaching I see in this movie is that the people who have the «worst appearance» in this movie are the ones who behave best, unlike the students who seemed very good and turn out to be the worst.

  31. Tucker and Dale vs. Evil is an exciying comedy. At first, you think that you are going to see that some students will spent theil holidays. But actually the movie will be very different.
It is a film in which there are many aspects to reflect on, such as the prejudices we have when seeing someone with the naked eye, without really knowing them. You can also reflect on how people of the city underestimate people of the town.
Finally, I believe that you shouldn’t judge someone before you know them. Although, the movie is a bit strange and macabre, it’s fun and you have spend a great time.

  32. In my opinion, the movie seemed scary at first, but as you start to watch it, you notice that it’s a combination of horror and comedy that today there are few of that style.
The message that this film wants to give us is that appearances are deceiving since the students seemed like good people and that they can’t hurt anyone and that the fishermen were murderers, but in reality one of the students was the real murderer and that the fishermen They were good people since they only wanted to help Alison. In addition, one of the fishermen was in love with Alison and he couldn’t hurt her, and Alison’s boyfriend wanted to kill him.
I would recommend this movie to people who like unexpected twists in scenes as they are very funny.

  33. From mi point of view, I think this types of films are very amused. The scripts changes that appear in the film entertain the reader. The film have a few years old, that’s quite true, but the effects of the movie are very accomplished. I’m in favour that the film is highly valued, worthwhile watching the movie.
Pablo Burgos thinks that the film isn’t clever twists on classic horror movie moments, I think that pablo is wrong.

  34. At the beginning of the movie, It looked like It was going to be a horror film, but as the movie progresses, It turns into a comedy. The film deals with prejudice because when the boys see the two men, they inmediately judge them by their appearence and, throughout the film, see them as murderers, something that causes almost all of them to die un an absurd way.
I believe the theme of the movie relates to real Life as We often tend to judge people by their appearence or social condition without really knowing them

  35. Most people fail to realize that we get carried away by someone’s personal image.

To begin with, the movie was very shocking. Having introduced the movie with the college kids going camping in the forest, something bad had to happen. They started telling a macabre story that happened in that same place. Therefore, we can get an idea of what the movie was about.

However, throughout the movie we can see how it becomes a love story at the same time.
It is undeniable that this story was very good
They say several interesting things throughout the movie that can be debated, and obviously there will be people who think the same and people who disagree.

Taking all this into account, I strongly believe that the film wanted to express that we don’t have to judge people before we met them and in this society there is a huge communication problem.

  36. I like how this film shows how the prejudices we have as a society run our lives, in the film the teenagers run away from two men thinking (based on their appearance) that they are weirdos who want to kill or hurt them when in reality the real villain is a well-dressed student who seems incapable of hurting anyone. I like the message of the film and the way it conveys it because even though it is a parody it represents very well the society we live in nowadays.

  37. For many people, the theme of the movie is based on friendship, love, or simply the irrationality of it, but from my perspective, these are just aspects of the movie that, along with stereotypes, lead to the misinterpretation of the situation by the characters.

Nowadays, our world is filled with stereotypes created by people that make us relate an individual’s appearance to a series of behaviors that supposedly characterize them. In the movie, the death of the young people is caused by these stereotypes that make them misinterpret the help that the villagers were offering to one of them.

Friendship is what leads the young people to find themselves in the situation that led to their death, love made the misinterpretations possible, and all the irrationality leads the characters to follow their instincts guided by stereotypes.

  38. In my opinion the movie was a bit strange because the context of the film could be a love story or a story with a lot of blood.

I liked that at the end of the film the protagonists end up dating and that the movie teaches that appearances are sometimes deceiving. It’s not okay to judge someone without knowing them and this movie teaches that.

Finally, I liked that at the end of the film the girl’s friend was the bad guy because once again it shows what I said before appearances, many of us could learn from the movie and not judge people.

  39. This movie at first seems horror, we also see that it deals with topics such as friendship and love. But we can really appreciate several aspects.
For example, prejudices, we can see how the guys at the gas station judge Dale, by his appearance. Our society is full of prejudices and stereotypes, young people are relating the appearance of villagers to their way of being, misinterpreting them and trying to help them, something that is very present today.
In my opinion I think it is a very interesting movie, which can make you think and reflect on prejudices and stereotypes.

Watching the movie I laughed, since the characters at the end were funny and in the end I ended up liking it. What I liked the most was the message that it teaches, that appearances are deceiving, and whoever seems bad, in this case they did everything possible to help them

  42. When we started the movie, there were things that made you think it was horror, but throughout the movie you realize that it’s the opposite. This movie is made to make us realize that people’s appearances can be completely different.
At first it seems that the two lumberjacks are the bad characters but throughout the movie we realize that they are normal people who try to help, however the bad character is a young man who dresses well and he tries to kill his friend and the two lumberjacks.
So this movie makes us think that we don’t have to treat people by their appearance.

  43. This movie is about how appearances often change. At first the plot seemed that Tucker and Dale were going to kill the group of teenagers who had gone to spend their vacations together. But in the course of the film I realized that everything that happened was by accident and what the film wants to show is how we shouldn’t focus on appearance.
In conclusion, I think that you shouldn’t pay attention to the senses, because appearances are often deceiving, just like this movie.

  44. The film «tucker & dale vs evil» is a film which you can see how harmful are the stereotypes and prejudices.
Firstly, the teenagers who went on vacation knew a story in which some teenagers were killed in the same place where they were going to camp. So, the adolescents were afraid that the same thing would happen to them. In my opinion, this is the worst and is the cause of everything that happened after.
Secondly, Tucker and Dale are some guys who live there and they don’t have any evil. However, people have stereotypes and associate people’s clothes or hairstyles with certain qualities. In my opinion, that is wrong since stereotypes do not allow us to know people and adolescents because of these stereotypes thought they were going to kill them.
Finally, from my point of view, the best person was Allison as she forgot the stereotypes and SHE met the real person. Because of that, she was the only survivor, because she trusted Tucker and Dale.
In conclusion, to meet real people you have to forget about prejudices and stereotypes.

    Me gusta

  45. In my opinion the film is very good, I think it has a message about stereotypes that we should all think about, because in this film the characters kill each other because of these stereotypes.
The film has taught me that appearances are deceiving because at first the blonde girl was afraid of the two friends and then when she really meets them she sees that they aren’t bad and that they are very friendly. We can also see how stereotypes deceive us because the one who at the beginning of the film looks like the good guy ends up dead because he was not as his appearances described him.

    Me gusta

  46. This movie shows how we let ourselves be fooled by people’s appearances. And since without knowing the person we already judge him.
It also shows the importance of communication, if there had been good communication in this film, none of that would have happened because it was all misunderstandings.
It’s a very good movie because you can see it from various perspectives like a love story, betrayal between friends, or psychopathic people.

  48. Tucker and Dale vs. Evil is a horror movie. At first, it seems like the typical movie about teenagers, but it’s not. Watching this movie, I’ve noticed how people, in this case, teenagers, judge others based on their clothing and appearance without really knowing them. It’s an entertaining movie because you never know what’s going to happen next, as the teenagers keep doing stupid things due to their stereotypes of the two men, Dale and Tucker, which keeps the viewer on edge the whole time. It’s also a love story as Dale tries to help Allison.

The touch of mystery with the father’s case is impressive.
In my opinion there should be many more movies like this one that would make me want to go to the movies every day.
